Data Sharing

The greatest challenge facing an airline group of companies is how to share safety information between the group whilst retaining independence for each airline. SERA has been designed from the ground up to provide the solution.  Using advanced user management (which can be customised by the client), each airline within the group can manage and report safety information for their own organisation, whilst still being part of a bigger pool of common safety data.

Case study example

The Flysafe Group is a large airline organisation with a number of fully owned and partially owned subsidiary airlines.  Flysafe National is a flagship carrier offering a full service domestic and international product.  Interstate is a low cost subsidiary offering a cheaper alternative product for the leisure market on domestic and international routes. Interstate Asia is a majority owned subsidiary of the Flysafe Group and has bases spread throughout Asia Pacific.  All these airlines, whilst part of the Flysafe Group, operate independent safety departments and report directly to their own Chief Executive Officers.  They provide trend analysis and manage investigations and audits separate from the other subsidiaries.

The Flysafe Group however, has a requirement for the Board of Directors to have full visibilities of the safety performance of each subsidiary. And to complicate things further Interstate has oversight obligations over Interstate Asia. SERA provides a Group Airline option, so that ll this can be achieved seamlessly.   The Flysafe Group Safety Department has full access to the groups data for trend monitoring and oversight, with read only access to incident, investigations and audit data.  The safety departments within Interstate and Interstate Asia have access only to their own data set, whilst the Head of Safety for Interstate has full access to Interstate Asia’s data to satisfy oversight requirements and for trend analysis and reporting.

To add yet another level of complexity, Flysafe Group provides the security service to all the subsidiaries.  Therefore Flysafe Group Security have access to all security related incident reports across the whole group of companies.  They also manage all security investigations and audits for the group.  And for reporters, no matter where in the world they may be, they can report an incident without the worry of having to send the report to multiple departments.

All this is possible regardless of the IT platforms used in each company.  No special IT infrastructure is required, it has all been done in the design stage of SERA.
